Summer

Chamonix has more visitors in the Summer months of July and August than any other month. The high altitude walking and mountaineering routes are in full use, there’s exciting events like the Climbing World Championship, Ultra-trail Marathon or the Fete des Guides and the town is buzzing with visitors from all over the World. June is quieter but just as spectacular and the slightly cooler temperatures make walking a little more comfortable. All Summer the glaciers become icy blue in the warm sun, the meadows are filled with summer blooms and on hot days you can swim in nearby lakes.
